About ZeroFlow

OUR STORY

I didn’t grow up in a world without waste.

I learned the truth by living it.

Our ancestors reused almost everything because they had no other choice. Food, cloth, tools, water, and household materials were valued, repaired, shared, and made to last.

Waste wasn’t convenient. Responsibility was part of everyday life.

Modern life changed that relationship. Life became faster, systems became more confusing, and throwing something away became easier than knowing what to do with it.

MY REALITY

I was part of that reality too.

Clothes went into the garbage because donating felt inconvenient. Sorting rules were unclear. We weren’t thinking about contamination or where everything went next.

We weren’t perfect. We were overwhelmed.

THE MOMENT IT BECAME REAL

As a chef, I saw waste every day.

Perfectly good food was thrown out. Ingredients spoiled before they could be used. Containers piled up, and sorting remained unclear.

Even food intended for families could be too old to use and end up in the garbage, creating another cycle of waste.

WHAT I LEARNED

The system has to help people succeed.

Canada has room to move forward in both behaviour and technology. But people don’t need more shame or fear. Penalties alone don’t create lasting change.

Penalties focus on mistakes. Motivation helps people build better habits.

WHY ZEROFLOW EXISTS

Make sustainability rewarding, not punishing.

ZeroFlow is a gamified reward system designed to make positive environmental action simple, motivating, and fun.

Instead of focusing only on what people do wrong, ZeroFlow recognizes what they do right and helps turn better choices into repeatable habits.

POSITIVE ACTION

Five everyday reward streams

Food waste Garbage

Our ancestors valued what they had.

ZeroFlow uses modern technology to help us reconnect with that value.
